Introductions and what’s new in your tech life? - anyone going to conferences? NECC?
  • Angie is going to NECC
  • Upcoming conferences One to One Detroit  at Detroit Country Day May 10  free
  • WIPTE at Purdue June 11- 12
  • Angie says that ASH will be using ePortfolios to facilitate their 6th grade student-led conferences
  • Jane is going to Alan November's Building Learning Communities Conference in Boston July 17-20
    • Jane followed her daughter (online) who was running the Boston Marathon through chips in her shoe
  • Carol K, Bob G & Carol I - Went to Wayne State's Instructional Technology Poster session last Saturday and shared info about the 9 masters presentations.
  • Carol I. (an alumn) shared flyers promoting the online WSU Instructional Technology Degree Programs  - these have also been sent to ALL Michigan School districts!
    •  note the "Readiness Survey"
  • Chris is going to MITS in Traverse City June 20 to 22  and pre-training with Don Johnston
 
Discussion of district cutbacks, layoffs, career shifts, buyouts, class size and various similar issues.

Post secondary education opportunities, motivation and alternatives.

Student discipline, bullying and aggressive behaviors - ASH is developing a rubric for consistent discipline.

Why map?

To  make sense of students' experiences over time. through two lenses - a year's curriculum for a particular grade (zoom) and see K-12 perspective (wide angle).
