Introductions and updates
Due to the weather, we had a late start and since several members needed to leave early, we got right down to business...
Business
Meeting Fee: $5/meeting for non-members or annual dues of $25 - dues are due to Sue
Membership promotional gift - finally decided
- padfolios would have been nice but too expensive - will amount to about $600
- Carol suggested pads of sticky notes - set would contain 25 notes would need to purchase 500 pads about $250 - they can be tucked into MACUL Badge holders and used to take notes or promote "Let's Talk"
----what website to list on them? - create a protopage or weebly as a front page and this will direct others to all other sites (pb wiki, Moodle, Visit My Classroom, etc.) or interested in using a more advanced (possibly paid) version of pb wiki - caution was cast upon dependency of putting information on another's server. Decided to stick with pbwiki for now, maybe upgrade to newer version.
Topic Podcasting 101
We will start exploring the world of sound files, how to use them, make them and turn them into podcasts. This month we'll consider some that already exist, examine types of content and ways “Let’s Talk” might share something with the world . Hopefully we’ll have time to record some samples and mess around with them using Audacity.
Please bring to the meeting : favorite podcast URLs and any digital recording equipment (microphones or digital recorders) for "show & tell"
We moved to our Let's Talk Technology Moodle home page http://m-dc.org/itt/course/view.php?id=2 to:
- review of Moodle from last month and to explore a new glossary activity "Our Favorite Sites" where members can share and comment on sites in a database
- explore podcasting resources in the Podcasting topic
What is a Podcast?
Favorite Podcasts (name & URL)
Recording sound
Equipment Show & Tell / recommendations
- Members shared a variety of microphones and headphones but we didn't get to try them
January Meeting:
Try recording and editing with Audacity
